This project has envisioned to transform Kosovo into a global agricultural hub.
The agricultural structures currently play an important role in mitigating, but also preserving rural poverty. However, there is both current dependence upon agriculture and the need to set the stage for making agriculture more competitive through restructuring. Unless resources are unlimited, measures to sustain and improve agricultural production can alleviate current poverty, but may delay restructuring.
These two realities create dilemmas for the Government and donors. It is evident that Kosovo cannot prosper unless the benefits of economic growth extend to rural areas. Therefore, everyone should support efforts to improve Kosovo’s agriculture’s productivity. Even to be late would be hopelessly self-defeating, a land of poor peasants, rather than another Kosovo.
Challenges & Solutions
The Project has envisioned a way to transform Kosovo into a global agricultural hub by establishing complementary links to each other between Agricultural Research Center, Germination Center, high-level Hydroponic Greenhouses, Renewable Energy, Employee Training System and Supplier Electronic Data Interchange to optimize all-year growing in order to maximize agricultural output in Kosovo.
The Project is a self-sufficient and sustainable integrated farming project that will facilitate access to high quality pesticide and herbicide-free healthy food. The goal is to be the one of the main vegetables, medical herbs, flower and fruits supplier in the region and international markets.
